When we spend our formative years in an alcoholic household our view of family, ourselves, and our relationships with those outside the home can become warped.
Sometimes the child becomes the parent. Sometimes the child makes themselves small to avoid attention. Sometimes we learn not to trust ourselves or others.
There are ways to unlearn harmful patterns from childhood. I work from a Schema Therapy background and specifically use materials created by the Adult Children of Alcoholics program to help you move forward and claim a healthier, happier life.
